Control cabinets
- How does electricity cause so many fires? Heating of cables and electrical components can cause the contact to loosen and deteriorate. Fires can be caused by electrical installations, worn components in the control panel, but also by non-maintenance of electrical offices, poorly maintained connections and overloaded electrical installations. Improper use of extension cords can also cause fires. Worn wires, loose wires and fuses in electrical systems and other components that are not maintained over time begin to overheat and cause short circuits, sparks, and then fires. Then flammable materials and components were seized near the incident, which led to a fire.
Solar power plants
- According to unofficial data from the Electrical Engineering Association of Slovenia and its subordinate committee NNELI, out of 100 inspected power plants, only four are electrically compliant. When to this is added the statistic that 50% of the fires in buildings are caused by electricity, the problem with fires in solar power plants is more than justified, considering that maintenance in small power plants is either very neglected or does not exist at all.
- If the power plant is put into use without special precautions, the question arises: How will it function in five or ten years? The minimum life expectancy is at least 25 years. During this period, it is directly exposed to large temperature fluctuations, wind, hail, rodents, birds and other potentially aggressive influences on electrical components. This increases the possibility of defects or damage over the years, and thus the risk of the previously mentioned phenomena of sparks, short circuits or overheating, which can lead to the ignition of components.
